Do I need an acoustically transparent screen?
Most commercial movie theatres have an acoustically transparent projection screen, with similarities to residential Home Theatre.
An acoustically transparent projection screen allows ideal placement of the front speakers and localizes the audio so that it comes from the image, not from the sides or below.
Not all rooms require acoustically transaparent screens and this is where a solid (instead of woven or perforated) projection screen would be used instead.
There are many options with various types of surfaces available to suit all rooms and intended uses.
